Eco-architect Bill Dunster is in talks with tourism companies to design £50,000 holiday homes that can supply their own power for heating and electricity.
The architect's ZEDfactory practice has produced draft plans for the cabins to include a composting toilet, wood-fired kitchen stove, a green roof and solar panels.
ZED factory is currently exploring potential sites where the timber cabins could be marketed as "luxury camping" accommodation.
Each cabin comes with a free mountain bike and are designed to sleep up to six people.
A communal wind turbine could also be installed where the cabins are built in a cluster.
Dunster is hoping that the design will also be attractive as green homes for low-income residents.
