Kebony adds a magical touch to Blue Forest’s fairy tale treehouse

A firm that designs luxury treehouses was so impressed with Kebony that it turned to the material to add a little magic to its latest fairy tale inspired project.

At the Water’s Edge, as Blue Forest’s project is known, is a bespoke complex that consists of a village of treehouses. It consists of a number of individually designed trehouses, with turrets, intended to provide kids with their spaces to retreat to, via cargo nets and Indiana Jones style rope bridges.

The Lake House, meanwhile, provides escape for the adults, with a private gym, showers, and a Koi Carp Lake to create a tranquil place.

Kebony was chosen for the decking throughout the project, both at ground level and for the raised flooring between the treehouses. The designers, Blue Forest, said it was picked both for its beauty and striking natural colour – a rich brown that mellows over time into a more muted silver grey patina, in addition to its robust stability.

At the Water’s Edge follows on from the success of a previous Blue Forest project that incorporated Kebony. The Quiet Treehouse – a stand-alone luxury tree home which was displayed at the Ideal Home Show in London Earl’s Court and RHS Hampton Court Palace Flower show – inspired Blue Forest to work Kebony into another of their impressive eco-builds.

Simon Payne, director at Blue Forest said: “We are passionate about delivering high quality eco-homes and treehouses which complement and blend with their natural surroundings. Kebony is a perfect material for these builds as it develops a beautiful weathered colouring over time which enhances the natural look of our projects without compromising on the structural integrity of the wood. We’re really satisfied with how this project has been realised and plan to use Kebony a lot more in our future projects.”

Adrian Pye, head of international sales at Kebony added: “Blue Forest truly believe in their projects and it’s a great opportunity to be able to work with a company that is so passionate about delivering a beautiful, environmentally conscious product. The combination of Blue Forest design and Kebony wood is absolutely stunning and we look forward to seeing many more playful, creative designs from them.”
