Disease hits New Forest

An outbreak of the fungus-like plant disease Phytophthora ramorum - popularly known in the USA as 'sudden oak death' - has been found in a small number of rhododendron bushes the New Forest, the Forestry Commission has confirmed.

The Forestry Commission and Natural England have joined forces with more than 100 organisations, representing woodland owners, forestry businesses, and local communities to create a new 5-year action plan for trees and woodlands in England.
