Congo Republic's largest logging firm has halved its workforce.
Congolese Wood Industries, known by its French acronym CIB, laid off 670 employees as a response to a global fall in demand.
The government had lowered taxes on timber firms in an effort to help the industry, one of the country's largest, but to no avail.
CIB is a subsidiary of international logging and wood products group TT Timber.
